Can you file and pay the tax as single if you are married for the previous year?

It all depends on whether you are married for the previous year. If you are married as on the previous year you must file it jointly or even separately. But if the question arises if you are a divorce then you can surely file it as single. And if you support any children at home then you can file as Head as Houses hold.
