My investment depends on the type of mutual fund. Exchange Traded Funds are closed-end finances that trade like stock on one of the stock exchanges. You can purchase shares in these funds through a brokerage financial credit, just as you would for any other stock.
The Open-end funds are obtainable from the fund's distributor, and in a lot of cases through the other agents such as brokerage firms, investment advisors, retirement plans, etc.
You can simply call up to the distributor or agent and ask for a prospectus and the essential forms to open a new account. After filling out the forms and sending in a check for the initial investment, you are done and you have invested your money in mutual funds.
