Affinity fraud is a new type of scam or conning. Affinity fraud refers to asset scams that quarry upon members of identifiable groups such as spiritual or ethnic communities, the aged, or practiced groups.

The fraudsters who promote affinity scams repeatedly pretend to be the members of the group. And they often sign up the respected group of people or religious leaders from within the group to spread the word about the scheme, by persuading those people that a fraudulent venture is legitimate and worthwhile.
